Aqua Coco
Packed with potassium and other essential electrolytes, marketers have famously termed coconut water “nature’s answer to sports drinks.” It’s an idea that, um, holds water—that is, until you realize that most pre-packaged coconut beverages come in bulky containers that don’t exactly sync up with your workouts.
Enter Aqua Coco, Coconut Merchant’s spin-off coconut water brand. With a streamlined on-the-go bottle designed to seamlessly fit into bike and treadmill drink holders, it was the UK’s first coconut water specifically aimed at the active consumer.
Like my work for its parent brand, I was brought in to support Aqua Coco’s business development strategy: showcasing its unique selling points to B2B buying managers in a highly saturated marketplace. Listings in gyms, health food stores and major grocery chains (including the UK’s largest supermarket, Tesco) soon followed.
